For couples who have not had success with conventional reproductive infertility treatments, more advanced treatment optionsmay be considered. This includes advanced assisted reproductive technologies (ART) such as in vitro fertilization (IVF).

IVF is a fertility treatment in which a woman’s ovaries are stimulated with medication to maximize the number of eggs produced per cycle; these eggs are then extracted through a minor surgical procedure, fertilized with sperm in the laboratory, and these embryos (usually no more than 2-3) are transferred into the woman’s uterus.

The Oregon Fertility Institute also offers customized modified protocols of natural IVF and minimal stimulation IVF as may be appropriate for each individual patient.
